Namaste and welcome to the website of the Leela Kathak Dancers. This site intends to give updated and accurate information regarding meetings, activities, and performances to the dancers, their families, and others interested.

Kathak

Kathak is characterized by intricate footwork and distinct facial expressions, accompanied by tabla (drum), singers, and other instruments. Kathak, meaning "story," is performed either solo or in a group, and is presented either as classical dance or as dance drama, which depicts episodes from Indian epics.

No practice on Mother's Day, Sunday May 10. For those who practice on Sundays, we will pick back up again on the 17th. Remember to semi-dress-up as we plan to continue filming compositions.
